As I ventured deeper into South Korea, I discovered the Guinsa Temple, a blend of serenity and vibrant colours, beckoning to be explored and documented.
Nestled within the heart of the country's picturesque valleys, the temple stood there, majestic and waiting. Everywhere I turned, I found myself saying, "Wow! The backdrop here is unparalleled." The panoramic mountains, reminiscent of classical Tibetan landscapes, gave an ethereal feel to the temple grounds, especially with the banners dancing in the wind.
A Photographer's Paradise
Guinsa Temple is nothing short of a canvas. The play of colours, the harmony of the natural and man-made, and the spirituality all blend into a visual symphony. "This is perhaps the most beautiful temple I've come across in Korea," I remember thinking as I readied my Hasselblad for the next shot.

Navigating Challenges with My Hasselblad 503cx
On my latest adventure to Guinsa Temple, I had my trusty Hasselblad 503cx loaded with FUJI Pro 400H film. This medium format, while superb for detail, often requires shooting at F11 or F16 to capture as much intricacy as possible. However, the rain threw a curveball into the mix. With a 400 ISO, the light needed for such apertures became hard to achieve, especially with the overcast conditions. Adapting became essential. Focusing on exteriors, I navigated these challenges and captured the serene aura of the temple. The results? See for yourself in the pictures below.
